The semiconductor and FPD (Flat Panel Display) industries are experiencing a surge in demand, in line with growth in applications for various digital electronics consumer products and automobiles. Demand growth and intensified competition have resulted in advanced performance and the greater miniaturization of semiconductor devices. Producers of semiconductors and FPDs are required to have more advanced technologies. They must simultaneously have a flexible production system to correspond to fluctuation in demand and supply and keep improving their cost competitiveness in order to compete globally.
